Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Mero Pusta ("we", "us") collects, why, where it is stored, who can see it, and how you can have it removed. It describes how the service works today. If a feature is not described here, we do not claim to offer it.

1. Laws and standards we follow

• Nepal: Muluki Civil Code, 2074 (right to privacy), Individual Privacy Act, 2075, and Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
• App stores: Google Play User Data policy and Apple App Store privacy guidelines.
• GDPR principles as good practice: information, access, correction and deletion.

2. Information we collect

A. Sign-in

• Google Sign-In only. When you sign in, Google (through Firebase Authentication) gives us your name, email address, profile photo and a unique account ID. We do not offer email-and-password sign-up or phone-number (SMS) sign-in, and we never see or store a password.
• Many features (calendar, panchang, rashifal, puja guides, games, news) can be used without signing in. We do not create an account for you in that case.

B. Information you or your family add

• Family tree: names, gender, dates of birth and death (BS/AD), places, gotra, relationships (parent, child, spouse) and optional photos.
• Shubha Lagan (matrimonial, 20 years and older only): education, occupation, height, gotra, rashi, photos, preferences and contact details you choose to add.
• Astrology: date, time and place of birth, used to calculate rashi and horoscope.
• Events and invitations: event name, date, venue and the invitation cards you create.
• Uploaded media and documents you choose to store.
• Messages: family wall posts, and chat messages between Shubha Lagan users who have both accepted a connection.
• Requests you send us: support tickets, safety/help reports and data-deletion requests (including the name, email, optional phone and reason you give).

C. Collected automatically

• Technical data: IP address, browser/device type and app version, used for security, abuse prevention and fixing errors.
• Notification token: if you allow notifications, your device's push token (with or without an account) so we can send the daily panchang, festival reminders and, if signed in, family reminders.
• Browser storage: cookies and localStorage to keep you signed in and remember display settings.

3. How we use it

• To show your family tree, calendar, panchang, horoscope and invitations.
• To run Shubha Lagan matching for users aged 20 and above.
• To keep accounts and private family data secure.
• To send notifications you have allowed.
• To answer your support, safety and deletion requests.

We do not sell personal data. Your family tree, relationships, chats, Shubha Lagan profile and contact details are never shared with advertisers.

Advertising

To keep Mero Pusta free, we may show ads: Google AdSense on the website and Google AdMob in the Android app. Ads appear only on general pages such as the calendar, rashifal and news — never inside private family-tree, chat or matrimonial screens.

• Google and its partners may use cookies (website) or your device's advertising ID (app), your IP address and approximate location to show and measure ads, and to limit fraud. This is governed by Google's advertising policy.
• Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can change that choice at any time from the privacy settings link shown with the ads.
• You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ad Settings, and reset or delete the advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
• Mero Pusta is not made for children under 13, and ads are not targeted at children.

4. Who can see your data

• Your family line: full member details are shown to signed-in members of the same family line (vamshavali) and people you invite.
• Other signed-in users: member names may appear in search results, with private details (contact, dates, photos) hidden unless they belong to the same family line. Visitors who are not signed in cannot search members.
• Shubha Lagan: profiles are shown only to other matrimonial users aged 20+. Contact details and chat open only after both sides accept a connection.
• Service providers that host and run the app for us:
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, API (Workers), file storage (R2) and encryption in transit.
  • Supabase — PostgreSQL database hosting. The database is reached only by our server; it is not open to browsers.
  • Google Firebase — Google Sign-In and push notifications.
  • Google AdSense / AdMob — ads, when shown (see "Advertising" above). They receive device and usage data needed for ads, not your family or account data.
• Legal requests: we may disclose information when required by Nepalese law or a court order.

5. Deleting your data

There is currently no self-service "Delete Account" button in the app. Deletion is handled by our team on request:

• Use the form on the Data Deletion page, or email info@meropusta.com from the address you signed in with.
• Your request is saved with a reference ID. Before anything is deleted we confirm that you own the account (for example by asking you to reply from the same email address). We do not send automatic confirmation emails.
• We aim to complete verified requests within 14 business days and will reply to tell you what was done.

A deletion request covers three different things:

• Account unlink: your Google account is disconnected from every family-tree profile, so it no longer grants access to the tree.
• Private-data deletion: your contact details, photos, uploaded documents, notes, Shubha Lagan profile and chats are deleted.
• Genealogy structure is kept: where other living relatives depend on it, the structural part of the tree (a name and the parent/child/spouse links, e.g. to ancestors) is kept so their tree is not broken. It is no longer linked to your account and carries no private details.

Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis; deleted data can remain in a backup for a short time until it is replaced.

6. Security

• All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
• Every request for private data is checked on our server against your verified Google/Firebase sign-in before the database is read.
• The database does not accept direct access from browsers or public API keys.

No system is completely secure. If you find a security problem, please tell us at info@meropusta.com.

7. Children

You must be at least 13 to sign in, and at least 20 to use Shubha Lagan. Parents or guardians may add their children to a family tree. If a child under 13 has signed in without consent, email us and we will remove the account.

8. Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date.
